Hi everyone. Well, we met up with Pete,Lisa, and Jordin Jenner last week in a cool little beach town called Dewey Beach Delaware. We much enjoyed seeing familiar faces and the girls especially appreciated the company. We rode go carts, played at the beach, and rode a Suri bike that holds up to six people....the dads and kids rode it out to a bird sanctuary. I think the three girls did most of the peddling. We rented a mini van one day (as we collectively agreed that the 35 ft RV wouldn't get around so well) and drove to union station. That's right, we went to Washington DC. It was our first subway experience, and boy was it ever! We took the train to the "mall" as locals call it. Maddox was excited when she heard that as she loves to shop! The mall refers to the smithsonian, the Arlington cemetery, Washington monument, etc. Just being in the heart of the United States like that was a thrilling feeling. We even saw the white house! Maddox swears she got a glimps of Obama. Ha
After saying a very teary good-bye to the Jenners, the Nickum's headed in to New York City!
We found an rv park right in the harbor which gave us easy walking access to ferries and busses so we could get around. We took a ferry to the statue of liberty and Ellis island. It was quite an awestruck moment! As much as we enjoyed the sights, we'd be lying if we said we couldn't wait to get on the road to less populated adventures. Off to the western side of cape cod in the most beautiful area to date. A little place on buzzards bay just north of Falmouth. Katherine McNeal and her family graciously offered there home to us for a few days. It was so amazing. We are currently on the eastern shore of cape cod in Wellfleet! This whole area is so lush and gorgeous! Fresh mussels, crab.....lovin it! We actually rented a little cottage for two nights. We kind of got used to a shower bigger than a cracker jacks box.... Love to all. If you are interested in seeing photos, we have a sight set up on shutter fly. Email me and I will forward the link. Chnickum@cox.net

The nickum's hit the east coast
Hi everyone, it's Hilary and Christian here. Happy mothers day to all the mothers that read this! Moms rock! We made it to the east coast, finally! Our trip this far has been so fun and cool to see the different animals, trees, and beaches (not to mention crazy different types of people) that live in different parts of the US. For instance, we rode our bikes to a park in Georgia and the signs read do not feed the possums and alligators....we will never see a sign like that in Idaho. They also have big buckets of fresh cooked craw fish that people just pull up and grab and eat....of coarse we bought some and tried them out....we didn't suck the brains out of the head like one lady suggested, but they were good. Next stop, Savannah Georgia. Our 35ft rv (with ten extra ft. Of bikes and motorcycle) had a bit of a time in the small roads there. In fact, we took a corner a bit wide and hit a car, breaking there driver side mirror. We didn't really notice until he flagged us down. But heck, we didn't notice the cone we drug under the rv either. The souther folks are so polite and kind, they call Christian honey and sugar...the girls think thats funny. The history in the south is so incredible, we have learned details about the alamo, the civil war, the wright brothers, and slavery....which has really interest Maddoox. In fact we stayed last night in kitty hawk which is where to wright brothers took flight. Okay, today we are still in North Carolina. We had heard so much about the outer banks that we decided to check them out for, ourselves. Wow. Isolated, beautiful....and no better place to spend a mothers day. Spending a few days here them destination, Delaware. Love to you all.
Ps. Georgia peaches really are as good as you'd think. Yum (can you tell I'm all about the food, and chrisitans all about the beaches)
